BLOG 6: POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Today it's a must to do a postgraduate course on one of the areas you studied during your undergraduate period. Many universities offer a great number of them in Chile and abroad. Many Chilean students choose to study in another country because of the prestige of the foreign universities, some go to Europe or the USA, others prefer Latin America, some to study in our country. I think it's a good idea for you to do one of those courses, especially if you are interested on a specific subject. Sometimes those courses may give you some specific tools for you to focus on a particular and detailed discipline. Sometimes you have more open courses, where you have to choose amongst a big range of topics to write your dissertation or thesis. The offer is quite wide and varied and you must be extremely careful when deciding your master's degree or your PhD program. Moreover, the requisites sometimes are many and confusing and in some cases strange or difficult to get. You also need letters of recommendation from important professors, a good academic background, for instance, publications, participation in seminars, assistantships and many others university work to be accepted or get a scholarship to pay the expensive the fees. As you can see, university is not a place to be happy huhuhu and we always need to make big efforts to give the next academic or professional step in our personal career.

As you can imagine, today you will have to write about your future postgraduate course. Include in your text:

- Your reasons to do the course
- The subjects (s) you would like to study
- Where you would like to study, Chile or abroad
- How you would like to study: distance learning, blended learning, part-time or a full time course
- Any other relevant reasons or ideas

Remember to comment on 3 of your classmates' posts and the teacher's one
The word count for this sessions is 220 words.
